I am a Zombie sympathizer, by this I mean that I recognize the things that bother me about his movies -the unnatural dialog and situations- and the white thrash vibe they always have...but I accept them for what they are, Rob Zombie movies. Good or bad, at least you can tell when they are his films. Its like when you hear Tarantino dialog, you know its a Tarantino film, cause only he writes that way. SAme with Rob Zombies films, they all feel the same somehow. Not great cinema, I admit, but hey, I've certainly seen worst filmmakers.

I'm with you half way here, I half way love, halfway hate his films. I think the one I like the most is still House of a 1000 Corpses, even though its a huge rip off/homage to Texas Chainsaw. SEcond in line for me was Lords of Salem, which I thought was one of his better efforts. I hope he does finally get to make that TREX movie, it sounds so crazy and original. I was really curious for that one. It's pretty ironic how Rob Zombie was eleven years ago considered the Number One genre/horror filmmaker on the planet that came close to toppling Quentin Tarantino off the top of the filmmaking mountain(with a rabid fanbase that rivals Tarantino's fanbase),until he made both the HALLOWEEN remake and its sequel(that did nothing new to evolve the Michael Myers mythos in any way) and suddenly slipped off of that very mountain top as he saw his latter films receiving limited theatrical releases. With that recently announced new Captain Spaulding/Firefly Family adventure(a project which he teased twice[along with a rumored C.H.U.D. remake] before turning to making both LORDS OF SALEM and 31),it looks like the once rabid fanbase are on divided opposite fences with this one since everyone is not wildly running across the street in full anticipation since they seem to have outgrow Rob Zombie(with Mike Flanagan now the new critically acclaimed horror filmmaker in town) since this career move sounds like a desperate return to former glories and doing this project would be somewhat of a setback for Rob Zombie since he would be lengthfully dealing with a major studio(Lionsgate[who own the rights to the Spaulding/Firefly films]) whom he has an uncomfortable relationship with(as he does with Miramax/Dinemsion's Bob and Harvey Weinstein)and he would be much better off making the likes of (the full length feature version of)WEREWOLF WOMEN OF THE SS,TYRANNOSAUR REX,and even BROAD STREET BULLIES to further explore his filmmaking potential than returning to a certain comfort zone/safe haven to reclaim his former glory days.Steven Millanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01153637815591803117noreply@blogger.com
