Di Leo's first crime trilogy is a great place to start.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-22272717239598907702010-02-15T21:38:57.211-08:002010-02-15T21:38:57.211-08:00I went from not even knowing the names of any of t...I went from not even knowing the names of any of these three films to suddenly feeling like an expert, excellent information as always V!I Like Horror Movieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15851268002582984544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-41345795856070187902010-02-15T07:58:52.998-08:002010-02-15T07:58:52.998-08:00Hey, Sean. Yes, part 4 will finally get around to a lot of the 'Violent Cop' movies that seem to be the most popular.

Samuel Wilson who runs Mondo 70 also covered Di Leo's trilogy in depth, Sean. His link for several Di Leo movies can be found here....

http://mondo70.blogspot.com/search/label/Di%20Leovenoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-16629268652911675272010-02-15T06:41:31.652-08:002010-02-15T06:41:31.652-08:00Yes more well seasoned commentary and the most inf...Yes more well seasoned commentary and the most informed appraisal i've seen of Di Leo's mafia trilogy.

Very much looking forward to part 4 of your article where it sounds like you'll be tackling the out and out actioners!Sean Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13695535929871620460noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-89255432887049076762010-02-13T22:30:07.890-08:002010-02-13T22:30:07.890-08:00About the cross, Sam, I'm honestly not sure. I had written this some time back, but needed to see the films again to re-familiarize myself with them as well as do the screen caps and add some things here and there. I don't recall seeing the cross again aside from the first film.

It's a damn shame disc 2 for MILAN CALIBER 9 has no English subs at all.

I'm going to make a guess that the use of the word 'Mikado' was used because it more closely matched lip movement and like you said, it is pretty appropriate given the characters stature.

His second trilogy I didn't care much for at all. SHOOT FIRST, DIE LATER is pretty grim, though, and a return to the directors controversial ways. Di Leo's KIDNAP SYNDICATE is also good. I also have BLOOD & DIAMONDS but haven't watched it yet.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-73814397658461996142010-02-13T22:04:41.533-08:002010-02-13T22:04:41.533-08:00This is a great commentary on a great trilogy. Since you've seen them more recently, do I recall correctly that the cross you show on the Americano's desk is the one thing that shows up in all three films? Speaking of Stander's character, I thought it funny that the American dub of Caliber 9 that I heard turns him into "the Mikado." I suppose it's not an inapprorpiate title for someone in his line of work.Samuel Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00934870299522899944noreply@blogger.com
