Still, I'd like to see the original version before it was cut and re-edited to see if it played any better. I don't have the dislike of the Bubo character so many others have, but it was cool to see it in the film even if it was in a sort of a condescending way. I'll probably check out the sequel, too.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-36089762943197459372011-07-15T09:54:20.375-07:002011-07-15T09:54:20.375-07:00I like both of them, to tell the truth. I was disappointed with the lack of Bubo, but I loved the black pegasus. I'm waiting to see if Wrath of the Titans has any of the coolness that the original Clash of the Titans did.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-35848315729417149522010-04-07T21:48:56.370-07:002010-04-07T21:48:56.370-07:00I saw it last weekend with the gf. Maybe if there was some cut exposition that gets reinstated for the DVD I may like it more.

I was pretty incensed at all the shuffling and changes. The Medusa scene really pissed me off, though.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-73682448822632142922010-04-07T21:35:59.563-07:002010-04-07T21:35:59.563-07:00Not planning on seeing this one in theaters but I ...Not planning on seeing this one in theaters but I am still very interested, thanks for the insightful comparisons V, I have seen the original at least 3 times, but man its been a while and I cant rightfully claim to remember half of what you laid out. Planning on watching the original prior to renting the DVD when it comes out though so I will revisit this as well!I Like Horror Movieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15851268002582984544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-41651805759589137912010-04-06T10:16:59.430-07:002010-04-06T10:16:59.430-07:00Lol! He doesn't even do it by himself, he has help. Two people are involved just prior to the big head lopping.

If you've never seen the original or aren't familiar with it, you'll have no problems I would say. Fans, though, will most likely take exception to all the shuffling around of things and it has WAY too many characters.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-62736573837559742412010-04-06T09:50:32.485-07:002010-04-06T09:50:32.485-07:00Thanks for the clarification! But the Djinn thing sounds just as infuriating.

So basically he beats the Medusa by luck and her own slow reflexes? I call shenanigans! ;)The Vicar of VHShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06832137990485130735noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-51949791556328991732010-04-06T07:00:37.025-07:002010-04-06T07:00:37.025-07:00Sorry, you mean the wide shot of Worthington leapi...Sorry, you mean the wide shot of Worthington leaping at Medusa, right? He has his eyes closed during this bit. He does this super jumping-spin-around thing as he takes her head off. Sorry, Vicar, I misread your comment!venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-28925661216248991272010-04-06T06:57:15.171-07:002010-04-06T06:57:15.171-07:00Wait, Vicar, lol! What's funny is this guy tells one of his buddies don't look her in the eye and what does he do? He looks her in the eye!

The mirror/shield plot point isn't used to the same effect it was in the original movie. He's only given a sword by Zeus. The shield is fashioned from the hide of a scorpion. The one thing I hated about the Medusa scene was the humor added to it.

*Slight spoiler towards the end*

The Djinn creature looks her in the eye after she wraps around him/it. She tries several times to turn the Djinn to stone, but it doesn't work. She has this totally stupid look on her CGI face as the creature laughs at her and blows himself up.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-62439625429512703982010-04-06T06:40:54.969-07:002010-04-06T06:40:54.969-07:00Wait wait wait...so Perseus actually gets to look ...Wait wait wait...so Perseus actually gets to look STRAIGHT AT the Medusa? I'm hoping that's a publicity shot and not something from the actual film, b/c the lameness of that alteration is of such a size that words could not contain it.

I mean--that's part of the Medusa's horror, right? Not only is she a badass snake-monster and a crack-shot with a bow-and-arrow, but you can't even fucking LOOK at her while you're fighting! That's what made the mirror/shield thing so brilliant and tense. Anyway, boo I say.

You're right about the Medusa sequence being the one against which other fantasy suspense sequences should be measured. (For sheer battle action, though, I'd put forward the skeleton fight in JASON & THE ARGONAUTS.) I rewatched the original CLASH recently, and while it has its problems (the pacing could be tighter, imo), it's just so much fun and wonderment. From everything I hear, the wonderment is in short supply in the new one.The Vicar of VHShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06832137990485130735noreply@blogger.com
