Some zombies and John Carl Buechler trolls again. Richard Moll played the wizard, there, too, THE DUNGEONMASTER of the title. He got a lot of work playing those kinds of roles.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-28378405396896802342010-12-14T12:41:58.009-08:002010-12-14T12:41:58.009-08:00You are absolutely right dude! He finds it in the form of computer geek Paul whom he sends across time to do battle with a bunch of different monsters and creatures from different dimension, just to see if he has what it takes to go up against Satan himself.

Hilarious movie man! I first suffered through that one on the CBS Late Night Movie a couple years later and then bought the MST3K tape. I'm not sure why the opening and closing credits on their version are from something else entirely. That was one of the few MST3K episodes I thought was consistently funny.

@ Fran: Yeah, I've got CONQUEST. I used to have the old Media tape. I hunted it down after seeing a cool pic of it in Fangoria's long defunct sister magazine, GOREZONE (not the more recent UK mag bearing the same name). CONQUEST I liked pretty well. To me, it's in a different class from the ATOR movies. It's good enough to be taken remotely serious at least.

@ Sam: The first sequel has a giant snake that's the equivalent of the spider in the first film. The third film called IRON WARRIOR has some skull faced invincible guy chasing Ator around the picture. I don't even remember if there was a monster in the fourth one, or not save for some horrible John Carl Buechler inspired troll looking creatures. If I recall, there's not even any horses in the film, the cast just runs around the whole time. That one is truly an endurance test. I agree, Sam, I wish things like that on regular television. Every once in a while, an obscure local station pops up and shows similar things, but then switches over to more mainstream programming. At least on cable and satellite, they got channels that cater to these films regularly.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-14517704305421170202010-12-09T22:08:45.758-08:002010-12-09T22:08:45.758-08:00@ DVC: Sounds good, but you forgot the horses! You...@ DVC: Sounds good, but you forgot the horses! You gotta have horses in a barbarian flick. They are a requirement for the 'Pillage the Village' sequence that sets everything in motion. All of them have a village pillaging of some sort, or other.

@ Luis: Yeah, I bet the movie would play moderately better on a big screen. The closest I got to an Italian sword fantasy in the theater was HERCULES in 1983. IRON WARRIOR is really the third ATOR movie, but for whatever reason, the fourth film sans O'Keeffe, but with D'Amato returning as director has an alias of ATOR 3. I saw it on cable as QUEST FOR THE MIGHTY SWORD. If you've seen Castellari's SINBAD OF THE 7 SEAS it's that kind of bad.

@ Dr. Sarcofiguy: Is he in that one, too? I remember him in the first movie and the second one was kind of BLAH, at least what I remember of it. I think there's a NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD segment in that one and Godzilla puts in an appearance. I remember seeing O'Keeffe in THE DRIFTER from 88 or 89. Kim Delaney getting naked is what stood out for me in this one. She picks him up and they have a one night stand and he keeps coming around. Kind of like a FATAL ATTRACTION type movie, but with a major twist.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-68715223701202553762010-12-09T20:41:57.342-08:002010-12-09T20:41:57.342-08:00My initiation into the mysteries of Ator came on W...My initiation into the mysteries of Ator came on WTBS, and it was my father, actually, who called my attention to the sublime crappiness of the spider effects. You know, I go to the local gym and find the bodybuilder who looks best in a blond wig, then hit the nearest college bar and find a co-ed willing to apply his bronzer (best bet is to play Ke$ha on the juke box, and the first girl who yells out "that's my jam!" is the one); then I go raid my nephew's toy box for the props. The script would be cake, and then I'd just have to round up all my friends and their digital cameras. The catering budget would be the biggest issue, unless I could get a local supplement company to donate us protein shakes for the bodybuilder...Direct to Video Connoisseurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02310858965138247572noreply@blogger.com
