Parts 1 through 4 covers his various innovations and Part 5 starts covering each of his movies at Shaw's.

Yeah, those weapons in RETURN were pretty damn cool. At the time the Shaw's had the best of everything in terms of costumes, set design, weapons and choreography. About 20 years ago I'd probably still be saying RETURN or NEW ONE ARM was better because of all the action. Now, I just feel the first movie is the better made of the three.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-47560308571036387562010-09-07T14:44:08.143-07:002010-09-07T14:44:08.143-07:00So you prefer the first one because it has more of...So you prefer the first one because it has more of a story, but what I liked about the second one was that it had a good story and freaking amazing action sequences! How cool were those shields with blades on them? I loved that weapon!

I need to see that third film The NEw One Armed Swordsman is it? And if its bloodier like you say..than I have to do it soon! Thanks for these articles man, they have been very informative in my KUNG FU education! You are the sansei in this matters, cant wait to read your next article on these movies.Franco Macabrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10994905312221715861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-55375245064169045752010-09-03T14:41:01.558-07:002010-09-03T14:41:01.558-07:00Dude, as we type, I am working on the second part ...Dude, as we type, I am working on the second part to this article. Cheh did close to a hundred movies. I got an ongoing series of articles about the man further down the right side of the site. I like RETURN, but it's inferior to the first movie, imo. The first movie has less action than the sequel, but the story and filming is so damn good. Incidentally, like a lot of Cheh's movies, RETURN OF THE 1 ARMED SWORDSMAN ran into censorship problems resulting in 22 cuts demanded, but only 7 being made. The DVD seems to reinstate all the shots. One of the many Shaw magazines I own from the time have the images of what was cut.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-77242166080250422362010-09-03T14:29:56.408-07:002010-09-03T14:29:56.408-07:00This awesome post has just filled up my netflix cu...This awesome post has just filled up my netflix cue dude!

I own FIVE DEADLY VENOMS, which I enjoyed, but didnt love, because I thought it was kind of slow. But when it picks up, it really picks up!

Recently saw RETURN OF THE ONE ARMED SWORDSMAN...and all I can say is WOWZERS!! Amazing movie, great action sequences, really bloody, and the weapons in that movie, I could probably do one whole blogpost on the awesome weapons used in that film alone. You seen it?

I need to see the first one, Im hooked on this director!Franco Macabrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10994905312221715861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-39492605618696890302009-07-25T21:04:31.750-07:002009-07-25T21:04:31.750-07:00The big ones are--

Once I get rolling with the continuing 'Shaw & Kung Fu Cinema' article, I will make much mention of the Liu's and their adopted brother, Gordon.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-39867059460537859342009-07-24T18:08:32.225-07:002009-07-24T18:08:32.225-07:00I am looking forward to see that list. Some truly classic movies were left off like THE DUEL, DELIGHTFUL FOREST and SEVEN MAN ARMY, but I tried to have a balance between his different stages of transition. FIVE VENOMS almost didn't make the list, but I felt the storyline made up for the lack of originality in the fight scenes. I'm working on the "Worst Chang Cheh movies" list right now. There's ten of those. At least one or two will rile some people, I'm sure.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-80684602212460265482009-07-24T12:06:11.679-07:002009-07-24T12:06:11.679-07:00Great list my friend.
