Famous Monsters Magazine often had them featured including some that I don't think ever came out here.

As far as I know, the bulk of, if not the only English dubs were done via K. Gordon Murray. I've reviewed a handful of them here now and you can find Spanish DVDs on amazon that have English subs. Some don't but some do.

I definitely prefer the B/W Santo movies over the color ones and SANTO IN THE WAX MUSEUM is arguably the finest entry of the series.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-31542098156174974412011-10-08T22:42:09.929-07:002011-10-08T22:42:09.929-07:00PS - Any idea how many of the El Santo, Blue Demon...PS - Any idea how many of the El Santo, Blue Demon, etc. films had English language dubs? I know Mexico probably produced a couple hundred of these films, but I'm guessing relatively few were actually dubbed into English -- I would venture to guess most of them probably specifically for syndication to TV.Dennishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06751939462958624387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2467807781586384838.post-43648788590736773822011-10-08T22:27:50.074-07:002011-10-08T22:27:50.074-07:00I keep waiting for Mill Creek (or one of the other...I keep waiting for Mill Creek (or one of the other bargain-basement PD "instant movie collection" DVD producers) to release a "50 Movie Pack" (or 20 Movie Pack, or 10 Movie Pack) of Masked Mexican Wrestler films from the 1950s & 60s. Sure, they can be had from various bootleggers, but since the quality is almost sure to be low anyway, why not wait until they're available at 50c to $1 per film? I haven't actually seen any of these films, but they're clearly inspired by the Universal horror films and Republic serials of the 1940s. That, and Mexico's unique spin on the superhero genre, is enough to interest me. Alas, it'll probably never happen, as even as cult movies go, this is a highly specialized splinter genre. I guess I really should start a Netflix account or something like that, since these movies just seem to be unviewable on normal cable TV channels. Any suggestions for viewing these things on the cheap?Dennishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06751939462958624387noreply@blogger.com
